Correction, 17 August 2026. This announcement described Proof of Humanity as analysing Zealy activity patterns across communities. The task does not do that: it reads the member's Zealy profile picture, display name and email address, then screens their connected X (Twitter) profile and its recent posts. When users attempt to complete a Proof of Humanity task, our system checks that they have a Zealy profile picture, a display name and an email address on their account, then screens the connected X (Twitter) profile and its recent posts for the markers that separate a real account from an automated one.

What the check catches

Proof of Humanity tasks excel at:

• Quality Control: Keep out the accounts that carry the automated-account markers below
• Bot Prevention: Catch the automated accounts that show the signals below — not a sybil filter, and not proof that two accounts are two people
• Profile Completeness: Require a profile picture, a display name and an email address before the check runs

How It Works

The verification process analyzes multiple factors in real-time:

Zealy Profile Check confirms the account carries a profile picture, a display name and an email address. No quest, XP, timing or velocity data is read.

Twitter Account Verification requires users to connect their Twitter account and analyzes the profile for authenticity markers that distinguish real accounts from bots.

Setting it up

Setting up Proof of Humanity is simple—just click 'Add task', choose 'Proof of Humanity', and the verification system is automatically configured. The entire process typically completes within seconds, providing instant feedback to users.

It suits communities that would rather turn away an obviously automated account than count it. It does not establish that a member is a real person, and it does not tell two accounts run by one person apart.

Proof of Humanity is available to all communities. Pair it with the required connections in your security settings; on its own it raises the cost of running throwaway accounts rather than eliminating them.
